Origins of Khronos
------------------
The first standard created by Khronos was OpenML for professional video editing which is very reliant on precise timing.
Chronos is the Greek god of time – so the name of the group was based on Chronos – but spelt with a K to be more distinctly recognizable – Khronos.

We have continued this theme with the name of our new generation Vulkan API.
Vulcan is the god of fire and forge – and the new API is also used to make powerful things – and we swapped the β€˜c’ for β€˜k’ again – Vulkan.
